The beer: Whooo-Berry

The brewery: Rusty Rail Brewing Company, Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania

Description (from Instagram): "Crisp lager. Smooth blueberry. Light body. Clean finish."

Would I buy it again? I haven't been the biggest fan of blueberry-flavored beer in the past, and this particular example didn't change my tune. The initial taste was okay, but the finishing note was weak and watery, at least to me. It just felt like this beer was missing something. Not terrible, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Description (from Untappd): "A big red ball of cinnamon fire! Expect just enough sweetness with a finish of cinnamon candy and whisky. Perfect for warming the heart of any beast."

Would I buy it again? It's the best nuclear accident–themed beer I've ever had. Of course, it's also the worst. Not too many beers named after accidentally critical plutonium out there. Your enjoyment of this beer really depends on how much you like cinnamon. If you love something like Fireball whiskey, you'll love this. If you haven't had Fireball since college because it's the bottom of the barrel in terms of liquor, then you won't like it so much. I can appreciate Demon Core, because it's well made, but it's not the beer for me.

The beer: Fool's Gold Imperial Peanut Butter Hefeweizen

Would I buy it again?: It's back to beer, and we've got a weird one. Imperial peanut butter hefeweizen is not a combination I ever expected to see, and unfortunately, I'm not sure it's worked. I didn't really enjoy this; I think that I'm just not a fan of peanut butter in beer. I will say this though, you really can taste the peanut butter.

Now, a while ago I reviewed a blackberry porter that reminded me of blackberry jelly, and I said that I'd like to buy a peanut butter beer, combine the two, and make a PB&J beer cocktail. It was a while ago (I've had this beer sitting around for months), but I did do that, and while it wasn't quite as good as I was hoping for – they didn't mix quite as well as I was hoping for and the cocktail was quite thick and tough to drink quickly – I did like it better than this alone.

The beer: Waffle Sauce Maple Pecan Imperial Brown Ale

Description (from the website): "Sweet Maple flavor & aroma, with a subtle pecan flavor on the finish."

Would I buy it again?: How could I resist buying a beer that had a picture of waffles on it? I couldn't. And the verdict? It was very good, very much maple syrup flavored. But that's where I run into an issue. See, I've already come across a maple flavored beer that I liked a lot, and that one was significantly cheaper. So while this is good, I'd opt for Starr Hill's version most of the time.
