Beer of the Week

The beer: How 'Bout Them Apples

Brewed by: Idiom Brewing Company, Frederick, Maryland

Description (from Untappd): "The ladies at Idiom got together to craft another female brewed beer! Loaded with Apple, vanilla, and cinnamon this Apple Cider Donut brew is the perfect way to bring in the fall season."

Would I buy it again? Even if this beer wasn't very good, it's just nice to see a fall-themed beer that isn't an Oktoberfest or pumpkin beer. Happily, this beer was very good. It's got apple, it's got cinnamon, and it's even got a bit of breadiness to evoke the donut part of the apple cider donut. It's definitely better and more interesting than the apple cider donut cider from a couple weeks ago, mostly because of the beer part of the beer. It provides contrast for the apple taste. I hope Idiom brings this back in the future, because I'd absolutely buy this again.

Beer of the Week

The beer: American Blonde Ale

The brewery: Aldus Brewing Company, Hanover, Pennsylvania

Description (from the bottle): "American Blonde is smooth, easy drinking and well balanced with a clean finish. Born of German yeast, English malt, and American hops, it is the quintessential American brew. This versatile beer drinks well; whether tailgating or sitting down for a gourmet meal. We refined American Blonde over the last few years to be the perfect stepping stone into the world of craft beer. Cheers!"

Would I buy it again? It's not quite as good as the last beer I had from Aldus, but it's definitely a very solid beer. Tasty, easy to drink, not too hoppy. I really need to get up to that brewery at some point, because I've enjoyed both of their beers that I've had. I would definitely buy this again.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Tropical Becky

Brewed by: Pondaseta Brewing Company, Amarillo, Texas

Description (from the website): "Tropical Becky is the early summer sister of our house Blonde Ale, Becky. It’s brewed with all local Texas malt from Maverick Malt House for a smooth bready base, and then refermented with pineapple puree and lime juice. It’s the perfect blend of easy-drinking beer and tropical fruit! It’s subtle, but boldly refreshing."

Would I buy it again? The lime is definitely more dominant than the pineapple in this beer, though you can taste both. Personally, I would have preferred the pineapple be more forward, so I'd probably give this one a pass in the future. It's good, but not quite what I was looking for.
