Beer of the Week

The beer: Sky Castle

The brewery: Thick-N-Thin Brewing Company, Hagerstown, Maryland

Description (from Untappd): "White Ale brewed with Grains of Paradise and Lemon Peel for a light spice and earthy / floral undertones."

Would I buy it again? I don't think it's possible to get a lighter beer than this at a craft brewery. At least, a beer that you might actually want to drink. It's a solid beer and it has a pleasant floral taste to it, it's just much lighter than I was expecting, and I was hardly expecting a thick, heavy stout. Even so, I'd buy this again. Not as my first beer of the evening, but as a second or third, absolutely.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Florida Cracker

Brewed by: Cigar City Brewing, Tampa, Florida

Description  (from the website): "Among the original European settlers of La Florida were rustic cattle ranchers called Cracker Cowboys whose whip cracks were used to move their herds across the Palmetto Prairie. These hard-working cowhands helped introduce cattle ranching to the emerging territory and established Florida as the young nation’s very first cattle-raising state. Our state’s agricultural history is celebrated with Florida Cracker Belgian-style White Ale, a perfect accompaniment to any outdoor adventure. A base of unmalted wheat and pale barley malt is complemented by European hops, orange peel and coriander that complement the lemon-lime esters of Belgian yeast. Enjoy Florida Cracker Belgian-style White Ale on the beach, in the mountains, or while wandering the sprawling prairies of Florida."

Would I buy it again?: Yeah, I would. It had a nice fruity flavor to it that wasn't overpowering but was definitely noticeable. Not much else to say about it, just a solid easy-to-drink beer.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Holy Moses White Ale

Brewed by: Great Lakes Brewing Company, Cleveland, Ohio

Description (from the website): "Refreshment or bust! Orange peel, coriander, and chamomile stake their claim in this unfiltered White Ale, named for our fair city's founder, Moses Cleaveland."

Would I buy it again?: Yes. It's yet another example of pairing a light, fruity sort of beer with a warm summer evening. Hard to go wrong with that formula, but this one was quite good. Just a note, this beer is unfiltered, and they really mean that. I noticed quite a lot of sediment and whatnot as I was about to pour the beer out. So if you're not a fan of that, this isn't the beer for you.
