Beer of the Week

The beer: Baby Bear Oatmeal Stout

The brewery: Hub City Brewery, Hagerstown, Maryland

Description (from Untappd): "Our oatmeal stout is loaded with flavor. An addition of oats to the mash leads to a silky and smooth mouthfeel and full-bodied beer. The dark roasted grain bill is reminiscent of coffee and dark chocolate."

Would I buy it again? There are definitely strong hints of coffee to this beer. Not overwhelming, but very noticeable. Overall, I found this to be a nice beer to drink. I don't know how often I'll get it in the coming months, since it's not exactly the beer you want on a hot summer afternoon, but I would buy it again.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Miner's Daughter Oatmeal Stout

Brewed by: Mountain State Brewing Company, Thomas, West Virginia

Description (from the website): "Coal black and creamy smooth, this oatmeal stout is brewed with chocolate malted barley, holds a light tan head and is surprisingly light in body."

Would I buy it again?: No, I don't think so. I felt like this particular beer had a fairly underwhelming initial taste and a surprisingly bitter aftertaste. Wasn't expecting it, and I didn't really care for it.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Snow Pants Oatmeal Stout

Brewed by: Union Craft Brewing Company, Baltimore, Maryland

Description (from the website): "Snow Pants Oatmeal Stout is an 8% abv, full-bodied ale packed with flavor. This jet black beer warms the palate with the roasty chocolate flavors of rich dark malt complimented by a gentle, creamy body from a hefty dose of oats. A generous addition of Cascade & Columbus hops provides balance and a bit of a piney character to this tasty winter brew. Winter is here – Its Snow Pants season!"

Would I buy it again?: Probably, yes. This beer didn't blow me away, but I like oatmeal stouts, I liked this oatmeal stout, and I especially liked the name of this oatmeal stout. Snow Pants is a great name, and the main reason I bought it. And I'd get it again for the same reason.
