Beer of the Week

The beer: Roadsmary's Baby

The brewery: Two Roads Brewing Company, Stratford, Connecticut

Description (from the website): "Roadsmary’s Baby is a scary good pumpkin ale with a Two Roads spin, it’s aged in rum barrels for added complexity and depth of flavor. The result is a smooth drinking ale with notes of pumpkin, spices, vanilla, oak and a touch of rum."

Would I buy it again? This is a very mellow yet thick beer. You definitely get the vanilla and pumpkin, but they're pleasant notes rather than overpowering. Usually, barrel-aged beers are quite strong, but at 6.8% this beer is definitely not excessively alcoholic. Which is nice, actually, drinking a hefty beer like this without the unmistakable taste of alcohol itself. Honestly, not a bad choice for Halloween itself; I'd probably buy this again.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Holiday Ale Biere de Garde

Brewed by: Two Roads Brewing Company, Stratford, Connecticut

Description (from the website): "Two Roads Holiday Ale is inspired by the little known Biere de Noel style, a subset of Biere de Garde, both of which originated on small farmhouse breweries in the north of France. Biere de Noel, which translates as'Christmas Beer,' tends to exhibit a more malty profile than a typical Biere de Garde. In its native France this special type of ale is brewed by just a handful of small breweries and is only available for the few weeks leading up to Christmas."

Would I buy it again?: Yes, I would. The flavor was very nice, and festive as well, and it was a very drinkable beer. An overall solid beer choice for the holidays.

Beer of the Week

The beer: No Limits Hefeweizen

Brewed by: Two Roads Brewing Company, Stratford, Connecticut

Description (from the website): "Brewmaster Phil Markowski has taken a “bahn” less traveled to create our version of the classic Bavarian wheat brew – perfect for the warming temperatures. Beautifully cloudy with a generous head of foam, a wonderful fruit aroma and a dry finish, our Hefeweizen is a refreshing version of the original; with just a little bit more of everything."

Would I buy it again?: I wouldn't go rushing out for one, but I definitely wouldn't say no. I like hefeweizens, and this was a decent hefeweizen. Very drinkable, with a bit of interesting taste to it.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Espressway Cold Brew Coffee Stout

Brewed by: Two Roads Brewing Company, Stratford, Connecticut

Description (from the website): "In a process unique to Two Roads, we mixed a locally-roasted Ethiopian/Sumatra blend of beans with a rich oatmeal stout under pressure [like espresso but without the steam] using our German-built 'Brewnik' device. The mixture is steeped for several days resulting in a true, cold-brewed coffee stout. Hop on the Two Roads Espressway!"

Would I buy it again?: Probably not. If you're a coffee drinker, than I'm sure this beer would be right up your alley. You can definitely taste the coffee. However, I am not a coffee drinker, and while I think this beer was pretty well done, it was a bit too bitter and thick for my taste.
