Beer of the Week

The beer: Tea Time

The brewery: Big Oyster Brewery, Lewes, Delaware

Description (from Untappd): "Relaxing out on the course, hitting some balls from the Range? If so, pop open a Tea Time and enjoy the best of both worlds, Iced Tea and Lemonade! Tea Time combines local Black Tea and a hint of that old school Lemonade flavor. Who wants an Arnie Palmer?"

Would I buy it again? We've got another entry in the longstanding series "Beers I'm obligated to buy because the name is golf related." There's an upside and a downside with this particular beer. The upside is that its nice for a golf-themed beer to not be an IPA, pale ale, or something similarly hoppy. I appreciate that. The downside? This beer is really, really sweet. It's fine at first or in small doses, but over the course of 16 ounces, it really does become tough to drink. And that's too bad, because I do like the flavor otherwise. If they toned down the sugar by like half, they'd really have something.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Soft Serve - Neapolitan Twist

The brewery: Big Oyster Brewery, Lewes, Delaware

Description (from the website): "Introducing 'Twist' our neapolitan stout loaded with fresh cocoa beans, vanilla bean and subtle hints of strawberries. This unique twist on our soft serve series will have you running to Big Oyster for more."

Would I buy it again? This is one of those fancy dessert stouts that are technically perfectly tasty and good to drink, but it's been so packed full of flavors that it ends up not really tasting like much of anything beyond generally sweet. I've never had neapolitan ice cream, but I shared one of these with someone who has, and I have it on good authority that this doesn't taste like that. I probably would not buy this again.

Beer of the Week

The beer: Get Toasted

The brewery: Big Oyster Brewery, Lewes, Delaware

Description (from the website): "Introducing Get Toasted, a delicious s’mores porter. Sitting by the campfire with friends and family roasting some S’mores sounds like a perfect night. A well-balanced porter with just the right touch of chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallow."

Would I buy it again? The s'mores porter record continues to be an incredibly mixed bag of very high highs and very low lows. This, unfortunately, is not a high. The first word that came to mind when I drank this was "chalky." That's not an adjective I ever want to associate with beer. Needless to say, I would not purchase this again.
